The Penrith Panthers have ended their association with stood-down winger Taylan May. The club has released a statement saying May will immediately leave the NRL club. It has been reported that a confidential settlement has been arranged. “May is departing the Panthers effective immediately and is seeking other opportunities,” the club said. “With respect to all parties, the club will make no further comment on the matter”. May was stood down by the NRL after a domestic violence charge.
He left a meeting with Penrith’s board with his contract still intact before a second show cause notice was served to him two days later asking him to front the board again. In Federal Court documents obtained by AAP, May’s legal team claimed only the second notice related to the current domestic violence charges. May alleged the club breached employment law by sending him a second show-cause notice, because of complaints he made in the initial meeting with Penrith bosses.
