West Coast say they will continue to support Tyler Brockman after the player was fined almost $1500 in the Geraldton Magistrates Court on Friday. Brockman entered guilty pleas to three charges by WA Police from a car crash in May. According to the magistrate, the accident occurred under “deeply suspicious circumstances”. Brockman had been at a family funeral in the north-west region the day before the incident.
In his verdict, Magistrate Matthew Walton said it was “obvious there are deeply suspicious circumstances”. He took into account Brockman entering guilty pleas at the earliest opportunity, as well as character witness submissions from Hawthorn coach Sam Mitchell, West Coast’s Indigenous player development manager Chance Bateman, and Wesley College head of physical education Paul Deegan.
