Guan Eng rebuts Sarawak claim of being sidelined

Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng says the federal government has provided more for development in Sarawak in Budget 2019 compared with the previous budget, as promised. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, May 4, 2019.

THE federal government’s development allocation for Sarawak this year amounts to RM4.3 billion, the second highest after Sabah. As such, said Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng, Sarawak’s claim that it is being sidelined by Putrajaya in terms of infrastructure development, following the announcement that 49 projects worth RM2.28 billion will be implemented in Sabah’s Sandakan district, is incorrect.
