MANILA – Distance may soon become irrelevant as digitalization could bring Chile closer to its trading partners in Asia, the South American nation's envoy said Thursday.
In fact, officials have recently visited China scouting for fiber optic cable providers which would help connect Chile to Asia, he said. Chile is looking for bidders from Japan, Korea, and China. “One of the things we’re interested with China and also with Korea and Japan is to seek for a provider, because we need a fiber optic cable that would connect Asia with Chile,” he added.
