AUDIO: Rex Patrick: 'This will provide a much needed stimulus for the economy'

Four key Senate crossbenchers – two Centre Alliance senators from South Australia, the former Liberal Senator Cory Bernardi and Tasmanian Jacqui Lambie – have announced they will vote for the government's $158 billion dollar income tax cut package in full.

Senator Lambie demanded the Federal Government wipe a debt owed by Tasmania for social housing and do more for pensioners.

Time will tell

Said the faux Lib...

BS. The trickle-down myth yet again. It will NOT stimulate the economy - the wealth will do what it always does and has got decades with this neoliberal rubbish and pool at the top, hoarded, or flow overseas. We already have high wealth inequality - now there'll be more.

building loopholes and playing with figures got this country into the debt we see today, nothng new just bludgers justifying a pay check

WHERE IS YOUR EVIDENCE!?

We’ll see? Rex may wind up disappointed by the outcome. Tax refunds saved or pay down debt and gas prices don’t come down. Good to be optimistic, stupid to be deluded.

Counterpoint: Not really. Lifting Newstart would do it much more effectively. Renewable energy infrastructure spending would too. So would increasing numbers of frontline public sector jobs. The tax cuts are probably the second least effective method behind RBA rate cuts.

RBA governor prodding Prime Minister and Treasurer to stimulate economyThe Prime Minister and Treasurer face a political dilemma to boost wages as the Reserve Bank warns it can't do it alone, writes political editor Andrew Probyn. It is not wages they need to boost but these sly government and semi-government increases in charges and hidden taxes. Thousands of dollars a year being secretly imposed. Just curb this corrupt method of money raising. A tax cut might help....
