LONDON - The British Labour Party’s second most powerful man has warned of a possible ban on financial services companies awarding bonuses under a future Labour government, Saturday’s Financial Times reported.

John McDonnell, Labour’s finance spokesman, said in an interview with the newspaper that he was putting the City of London on notice that it was time to end bonuses voluntarily or face draconian curbs.

Pure evil

Good

I thought Labour didn't want elections?

Scary that any party that has some vague possibility of election in a supposedly free democratic society thinks it could dictate to private businesses what the hell they can or can't do. Worrying about the health of my UK passport and not due to Brexit.

Our mission at is to build the social media platform that ends fake news

How can they win power FFS They frightened to death to go to the polls It would be like putting the IRA Hezbollah Hamad and Hitler in charge Anti semitism has not been looked at never mind stamped out

They are such kill joys taking the fun out of makeing money, so if they win power , no point in working hard, as they will just tax us all to death.

I think that cracking down on anti-Semitism would be a more convincing promise...

well this will never happen so this is non-news.

How will Labour win power? They've refused an election because they know they'll take a beating.

That's a plan Labour drive all of our financial institutions abroad by making it impossible to recruit staff in the UK due to your interference. Labour looking forward to turning the UK's economy into a copy of Venezuela's.

Well thankfully this Marxist, socialist Labour Party won’t win the GE, if they actually have the balls to agree to one

Remainers - happy with you evil work ?

Ahh the big If, but I doubt it.

It’s their MPs fraud expenses they need to crackdown on

FIND A WAY OUT UK! THE WORLD IS WATCHING! DOWN WITH THE EU! TAKE YOUR COUNTRY BACK!! DON'T BELIEVE THEM!!

Wow that has that banking world shacking in their boots ....🤣

Why is these happened

I’ve often said when bankers went from Buicks to Bugattis there was a problem, but: Naïve or incomplete approach. Smacks of a moronic populism. Unless such a ban is enacted across the parts of the world connecting to the first/second world economy, those jobs will just move.

Unelectable

Not a good idea. You need them on your side now more than ever.

Don't they need a general election for that? Oh wait... they have been offered one, oh wait... they have refused it because they can't get enough votes to win because they are IDIOTS!

Yep hope he starts with the NHS,then move over to the trade unions,MPs,as for the financial most are set from the states

Yeah great move. Pleb.

Tell me how getting paid a six figure bonus, on top of your normal wage, is great for the economy? If you can't live on less than £250k/pa, then you really need a word with yourself.

If bonuses and high earners (football players, bankers, etc) are taxed correctly then everyone benefits I suppose. If there were no bonuses there would be less tax receipts

Next will be: nationalise homes, set the price of milk & bread, 90% income tax, 50% reduction in Govt employees pay

Stupid eyewash. This is will give them excuse to launch fresh assaults on social - welfare spending which have been cut extensively over 2 decades to fund militaristic adventures as USA's sidekick.

Comrade McDonnell 🇷🇺😏😂👍

How do you view the Chinese government's help to the United States and the international community? Because China seems to have the ability to exert an impact on the economy.

Sure sure...why not
