The government is resisting a renewed push to bring-back financial incentives for state asset recycling programs ahead of a crucial Treasurers meeting in the nation's capital.

NSW Treasurer Dominic Perrottet has been marshalling support for the scheme, which would help fund large infrastructure projects, designed to fire-up the economy. Treasurer Josh Frydenberg has dismissed the idea, maintaining there are other ways the states can fuel growth - like changes to tax arrangements and making public departments more efficient. Commonwealth, state and territory Treasurers will hold talks on Friday.
