PETALING JAYA: Putrajaya has approved a RM100 million loan for Kelantan, a sum which Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng says can be used to pay the salaries of its civil servants. In taking a dig at the PAS-led state, Lim said the loan – which was approved last month – was to ensure the civil servants in Kelantan were not mistreated because of the state government’s weak administration.

“The welfare of the rakyat is important. It will be a big problem if it is not taken care of,” he told reporters after officiating the Selangor DAP convention here today. Last year, Lim said that the east coast state had no money to pay its civil servants, including part-time workers, and “other bills”.
