European stocks lost ground, while Wall Street is mostly lower in late trade, despite a strong rise in Boeing shares boosting the Dow Jones. Futures are pointing to a slight rise on the ASX.

The Australian share market may rise at the start of trade, with ASX futures slightly higher despite a subdued overnight session for global markets and Wall Street mostly weaker in late trade.AUD: 68.50 US cents, 53.29 British pence, 62.09 euro cents, 74.70 Japanese yen, $NZ1.08Europe: FTSE 100 -0.4pc at 7,328, DAX -0.2pc at 13,198, CAC +0.1pc at 5,893, Euro Stoxx 50 -0.

However, the blue chip Dow Jones index managed to eke out a gain in afternoon trade, boosted by a strong rise in Boeing shares .
