THE pound US dollar exchange rate is holding steady today, with the pairing trading around $1.283 after UK employment fell by 58,000 in the three months to September.

While September’s UK ILO Unemployment Rate figure eased, this was not enough to boost market confidence in the UK’s flagging jobs sector.Today also saw the release of the UK’s average weekly earnings figure. Wage growth came in below forecasts, easing from 3.7 per cent to 3.6 per cent on the year.
