Opposition Leader Lia Finocchiaro said a Country Liberals government would fix the Northern Territory's "dire" economy, "disgraceful" debt and "out-of-control" crime if elected at the August 22 election.
"As a 35-year-old born-and-bred Territorian, I'm proud to be the first female leader of the CLP to take us to a general election," Ms Finocchiaro said. "To my left is a team of committed, determined, skin-in-the-game Territorians who are invested in our future … that team right there is a future CLP government under a government that I lead."Ms Finocchiaro echoed the CLP's long-running attacks on the Gunner Government's economic record, saying the party would begin to claw back the Northern Territory's mounting debt and stimulate the economy.
"The Territory is at a crossroads. Under the Gunner Government, the economy has completely collapsed. 11,000 jobs are gone but we've had the promise of many tens of thousands more," she said. "Our debt is forecast to reach $8.2 billion this year … that is $6.4 billion more than when they came to power … that's $34,000 for every man, woman and child. That's our children who will have to pay back that debt."
Same old beat, bragging about being the best economic managers when the country has never been in more debt. How do we get out of it? Let’s frack the NT! Ingenious economic plan there CLP.
