Prosecutors alleged that an investment executive bribed a longtime Georgetown University tennis coach to recruit his daughter and help her get admitted to the school

Federal prosecutors charged an investment executive on Wednesday with fraud and bribery conspiracy, alleging he bribed a longtime Georgetown University tennis coach to recruit his daughter and help her get admitted to the school.

Amin C. Khoury, who is listed on LinkedIn as managing partner of K.A.D. LP, is the 57th person charged in the sprawling Varsity Blues college admissions case, led by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Boston. Prosecutors said he agreed in 2014 to pay Georgetown coach Gordon Ernst around $200,000 through a third party in exchange for having Mr. Ernst designate his daughter as a recruit; they said the girl’s tennis skills were below the level of typical Georgetown recruits.

They said Mr. Khoury flew to Massachusetts from Florida with $200,000 in cash in May 2015, after the girl was admitted, and handed the money over to a tennis recruiter with the understanding most of the money would go to Mr. Ernst. That third individual then gave $170,000 to Mr. Ernst’s wife, keeping a portion for his own fee, the prosecutors said. Mr. Ernst then “continued to pursue” Mr. Khoury for another $20,000, prosecutors said.

Mr. Ernst has pleaded not guilty to charges including racketeering, fraud and bribery conspiracy. In a superseding indictment Tuesday, prosecutors laid out additional details of the deals he allegedly engaged in, including agreeing to give the tennis recruiter a $10,000 fee for his services.

When are the university officials going to be charged in any of these schemes? It takes 2 parties for bribery

So if I bribe a cop, I get arrested. If the cop takes my bribe, he has done worse in my eyes. Parent bribes tennis coaches, bad. Tennis coach takes bribe...worse. Why do we only hear about the parents? Take two to tango....can we go after a few college types please?

Oops. Money equals privilege. We are not equal.

Right, cause the bribe money is supposed to go directly to the universities in the form of “donations”. Schools don’t like when the bribes go to their employees I guess. Makes sense.

The rich thinks they can cheat their way into knowledge and IVY leagues, but caught this time.
