Capitec becomes latest bank to suffer systems outage

Capitec has become the latest of SA’s major banking groups to suffer a systems failure with the lender’s online banking portal, app and USSD services suffering their second day of outages on Friday.

SA’s biggest retail bank by customer numbers began experiencing problems with its systems infrastructure on Thursday morning, prompting a flurry of complaints on social platforms. Tech issues keep Capitec's app, online and cell banking platforms downFor the last 24 hours, Capitec clients have only been able to use their bank cards for transactions as all its banking channels have been completely down. I suspect that the crash maybe caused by the new lotto integration. The app couldn't handle the traffic then crashed.
