A Liberal Senator pushing for a 'sustainable' wage increase for aged care workers has accused the government of siding with unions who want a 25 per cent increase.

The Albanese Labor government will on Monday put forward an official submission to the Fair Work Commission .

Aged Care Minister Anika Wells has not revealed a specific figure the government has in mind, but unions are backing a 25 per cent pay rise.
