Italian-American celebrity chef Michael Chiarello has died aged 61 after suffering an “acute allergic reaction” that led to anaphylactic shock. Best known for his work on the Food Network, Chiarello died at Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa, California, after suffering from an allergic reaction a week prior. His restaurant group Gruppo Chiarello confirmed the news that its founder had died, spending his final moments surrounded by friends and family.
“As we navigate this profound loss, we hold dear the moments we cherished with him, both in his kitchens and in our hearts. “His legacy will forever live on in the love he poured into every dish and the passion he instilled in all of us to savour life’s flavours.” On the Food Network, Chiarello hosted the series Easy Entertaining with Michael Chiarello and was a judge on the series Top Chef. Easy Entertaining first aired in 2003 and continues to air daily.
