When I first saw Sir The Label’s iconic Aries Cut Out Gown, I was mesmerised. Available in six colours including signature black, cream, peach, lilac, navy and even chocolate, the $520-a-pop dress is the kind of silken dream made for wedding guests or a black tie ball. I think about this outfit more than I care to admit, so when looking for something fancy enough to wear to an upcoming outdoor celebration I once again turned to Sir.

99, more than half the price of our Sir favourite. While it’s made from satin - not silk - the lacey trim and colour, length and sleeveless nature is almost identical to its designer counterpart. Customers have picked up on the similarities between the two designs and called the Forever New option a “beautiful alternative”. Rather than having a cross of fabric across the back like the Sir option, the Amelia dress is completely open.
