A man has died in a serious collision involving a car and a train in Melbourne’s north. Several calls were made to triple-0 following the crash near Pascoe Vale train station about 8.20pm on Wednesday. “As a result of the collision a yet-to-be-identified male, who was driving the car, died at the scene,” a Victoria Police spokesperson told 7NEWS.com.au.
His female passenger managed to get out of the car before the moment of impact. “The exact circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be determined and investigations remain ongoing,” police said. Train services on the Craigieburn Line have been stopped in both directions while emergency services continue their work at the scene. Motorists have been told to avoid the area, with restrictions to the usual traffic flow. Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers.
