Geelong were down by 48 points halfway through the second quarter when they subbed 2022 premiership ruck Rhys Stanley out of the game to inject Oisin Mullen into the contest. Typically tactical subs are only made later in the match, often in the last quarter, to avoid risking playing out the game one short, should an injury happen after the sub is already made.
