US teen Luke Adams, 18, from Pennsylvania was resuscitated in March when he went into cardiac arrest after drinking the highly caffeinated Charged Lemonade sold at US restaurant chain Panera Bread’s, a lawsuit says. The lawsuit filed on Monday comes two weeks after Panera announced it would be discontinuing the controversial beverage.
‘The whole thing replays in my mind’ The Food and Drug Administration says healthy adults can safely consume up to 400mg of caffeine a day. After getting sued, Panera put more detailed disclosures in all of its restaurants and on its website warning customers to consume Charged Lemonade in moderation, stating that it is not recommended for children, people sensitive to caffeine, or pregnant or nursing women.
