A 27-year-old man arrested after jumping from a moving truck on a Gold Coast Hwy was allegedly driving while on drugs and unlicensed. The police chase began when other motorists reported Timothy Russell for allegedly driving erratically in Ewingsdale, near Byron Bay, about 12.30pm on Tuesday. Four cars were hit as Russell allegedly evaded police, crossed the New South Wales border into Queensland and drove in the wrong direction on Pacific Mwy.
“It was just an almighty bang ... he nearly pushed me into the concrete barrier,” Faull said. Russel’s truck was driving on one rim after police used a tyre deflation device. The 27-year-old was filmed jumping from the truck at around 2pm near Yatala. A large number of police officers swarmed and arrested Russell in the scrub beside the busy road.
