A teenage boy from Queensland has been left fighting for life and a young West Australian woman is suspected to have sustained spinal injuries after a crash on the Gold Coast on Sunday morning. They were two of five young occupants in the car when it smashed into a retaining wall on William Blvd in Pimpama just before 1am. The Holden Commodore was travelling west when it mounted a roundabout and hit the wall, Queensland Police said.

One of the passengers, a 19-year-old Pimpama man, was critically injured and taken to Gold Coast University Hospital. Another passenger, a 20-year-old woman from Western Australia, was also taken to Gold Coast University Hospital with suspected spinal injuries. The driver of the car, an 18-year-old Coomera man, was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital for assessment and is helping police with their investigation.
