European stocks opened higher Wednesday, reversing a negative trend seen in the previous trading session.

LONDON — European stocks opened higher Wednesday, as sentiment remains on edge ahead of two major elections.has been choppy so far in July. The index was 0.4% higher in early deals, with most sectors in the green led by mining stocks, up 1.6%.Investors are bracing for two national parliamentary elections, with the U.K. heading to the polls on Thursday followed by France on Sunday.

However, the closely watched figures for core and services inflation remained stubbornly high, holding at 2.9% and 4.1%, respectively.mostly rose overnight, after U.S. Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell noted there was progress on reining in inflation, while investors also assessed a slew of data from the region.
