An American tourist who was travelling on the Greyhound bus that collided with a LandCruiser station wagon towing a caravan in regional Queensland has spoken about the traumatic incident in which three people died. Farah Priela was travelling on the bus with 33 other passengers when it smashed into the station wagon on the Bruce Hwy at Gumlu, south of Townsville, about 11am on Sunday. Three female passengers died, two of them German nationals aged 33 and and a 56-year-old Townsville woman.
When she boarded the bus, the driver said he remembered her, but Priela said she had no idea “what he was on about” and responded with a smile and nod. When she checked her assigned seat, the driver beckoned her to move to another seat further down. Pictures of the wreckage show a large part of the caravan wedged into the front of the bus where the two vehicles collided. Priela believes the passenger who took the seat she was originally assigned died of their injuries.
