Treasurer Josh Frydenberg has rejected a push by the states to bring back federal incentives for state asset recycling. Mr Frydenberg told Sky News“the states don’t need any financial incentives to recycle their assets, they’ve shown a willingness and an ability to do that in the past and we will leave them to do into the future”. “We will continue to partner with state governments on really important projects,” he said.

Josh Frydenberg is due to sit down with his state and territory counterparts on Friday at parliament house. Infrastructure spending is excepted to dominate the agenda, with Mr Frydenberg under pressure to help bring forward infrastructure projects in a bid to help boost the economy. He also confirmed to Sky News that he blocked the RBA deputy governor from addressing climate change at Friday’s meeting.
